Upper Hermosa is a very serene and peaceful area with a very similar feel to Lower Hermosa. However, because it is further away from the ocean, the prices for homes are more affordable. Despite being further from the ocean, Upper Hermosa has the advantage of offering easy access to Bird Rock, where some of La Jolla’s best dining and shopping can be found, not to mention its magnificent scenery, wildlife and recreational opportunities.

As elsewhere, prices largely depend on the quality of the view. Some terrific bargains can be found here: occasionally you can find very large homes on sale here for only $1.5 million. This is very affordable for La Jolla.
